Clark focuses his practice on complex commercial transactions and litigation in a broad array of areas involving technology, such as non-patentable confidential information and databases, patentable technology, copyrightable subject matter, and trademarks, construction and engineering matters involving technology, and consulting and employment relationships involving technology. Clark also represents clients with respect to the negotiation of contracts and the resolution of disputes dealing with construction and engineering issues and consulting and employment relationships.

- Worked way through law school as an engineer for Barnard & Burke Consulting Engineers. Passed the registered engineering test and became a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana (now lapsed).

MILITARY SERVICE
- Upon graduating from law school in 1966, got married, and went immediately into the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant. Served two years in the United States Army at Fort Sill during the time of the Viet Nam War. Although initially trained as artillery forward observer and pilot, ended-up being assigned to the Judge Advocate General Corp., promoted to Captain, and tried special courts martial and advised soldiers as to legal matters for two years.
FAMILY
- Married (to the same lady) since 1966. Two daughters.
Career at Vinson & Elkins and Kelly Hart
- After leaving the U.S. Army, returned to Baton Rouge and practiced for two years with a small firm named Sanders Miller Downing Rubin and Kean while wife obtained her masters degree at L.S.U. Moved from Baton Rouge to Houston in 1970 and joined Vinson & Elkins, LLP. Has been practicing law for 45 years, 36 years of which were with Vinson & Elkins, and the last 4 years with Kelly Hart & Hellman, LLP. While with Vinson & Elkins, served as the Section Head for the Firm's Intellectual Property / Technical Section for decades, and was elected to the Firm's Management Committee for 12 consecutive years. Retired from Vinson & Elkins on December 31, 2006 and joined Kelly Hart as a partner on January 1, 2007 and left Kelly Hart at the end of 2010. Chosen as being among the Best Lawyers in Texas and in America and the like for years.

- Has since 1970 had a patent office practice, including writing patent applications (reluctantly), patent ownership agreements, agreements transferring and licensing patent rights, and the like. Has handled patent infringement litigation entire career at Vinson & Elkins. Has handled patent ownership and patent rights litigation for entire career.
- Has since 1970 handled confidential information and trade secret office practice and litigation. Over the years, has handled many numerous complex contract negotiations involving computer software.
- Has since 1970 had a trademark office practice, including federal and state registration of marks, and handled infringement and ownership litigation.
- Has since 1970 had a copyright office practice, including federal registration, and copyright ownership and infringement litigation. In recent years, this has been an increasing significant area of my practice.
- Has since 1970 has an employment office practice, including employment and independent contractor agreements, and employment litigation, including non-competition agreements. At Vinson & Elkins, this practice was shared by the Intellectual Property / Technical Litigation Section (because such matters so often involved technology issues) and the Labor and Employment Section (with the latter Section exclusively handling matters governed by Title VII and other federal statutes).
- Has since 1970 had an engineering and construction office practice, including various construction agreements, and litigation arising out of engineering and construction disputes.
